Anne Provoost running for senator

Press Release, 10 April 2007

BRUSSELS – Flemish author Anne Provoost will be running for senator for the Green party (Groen!) in the federal elections on 10 June. She said this on a Radio 1 programme today.
Provoost says however she is not in a position on the list where she is likely to be elected. "I am doing it for the people who have a chance of being elected," she said on the radio. "I want those people to have my support and that is why I am joining the list."
Provoost debuted in 1990 with My aunt is a pilot whale, which won her the Boekenleeuw prize and the Interprovincial Prize for Youth Literature. Her second novel for young people, Falling, appeared in 1994 and was awarded five European literary prizes.
Her works have been translated into at least 12 languages.
