ReviewsCassie from Albury/Wodonga, Australië Trying to write a review on Anne Provoost's literary masterpiece "Vallen" (Or "Falling" translated into English) is like trying to transform Wuthering Heights into a children's story! The story itself is based around the easily manipulated character of Lucas Beigne and his search to discover the truth surrounding his Grandfather's association with a group of Neo-Nazis attempting to run immigrants out of town. At the other end of the scale, an old friend of Lucas's, Caitlin, is completely against the actions of the Neo-Nazis possibly due to the fact that she is infact a Jew herself. This makes Lucas even more confused and doesn't know who he should side with. Eventually as the truth unravels about his Grandfather, Lucas begins to see Caitlin's side but a terrible accident involving Caitlin and Lucas leaves the friendship wavering. Lucas's experiences in "Falling" show that positive adult role models are necessary for young people to behave responsibly. I read this book as part of a year 12 assignment and fell in love with it. Falling is an intensly human book filled with raw human emotion. I dare you to read and be encaptured by the powerful, political yet sensible plotline. YOU will love it! |
